NANCY JOHNSON
Nancy (Valley) Johnson, 55, passed away at her home in Chana, Ill. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003. She was born in Prairie du Chien on September 14, 1948, daughter of the late Elmer Sr. and Evalou (Crawford) Valley. She married Mike Johnson in 1971 and moved to Chana, Ill. where Mike is employed by the Railroad. They had two children, Michelle and Loren. Surviving are her husband Mike, daughter Michelle and son Loren (Faith) Johnson and four grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Anna (John) Eastman, Prairie du Chien and two brothers, Elmer Jr. (Patty) Valley of Prairie du Chien and Joseph (Betty) Valley of Sun Prairie; also two half-sisters, Lorraine Siegenthaler of Prairie du Chien and Mrs. Carol (James) Wifnowski of Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by her parents and a half brother, James Kelly. Services are Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Unger Funeral Home, Rochelle, Ill. Visitation is Monday, Dec. 15 from 4-8 p.m. at Unger Funeral Home, Rochelle, Ill.

ALRED MLSNA
Alred Mlsna, 70, of Tomah passed away at his home on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003. He was born on July 4, 1933, on St. Mary's Ridge, to William and Elizabeth (Brueggen) Mlsna. He married Norma Giese on Sept. 23, 1961 in Milwaukee. Alred was a truck driver and farmed until he was disabled in a traffic accident in 1963. Following this, he and his wife, Norma, moved to this area where they have spent most of their lives. Alred spent most of his time around the home, landscaping and working on his tractor, Hubie. He served in the U.S. Navy and received an Honorable Discharge. Surviving are his wife, Norma; one daughter, Mary (Merlin) Mabb of Wauzeka; four grandchildren, Raymond, Jacob, Bethany and Sara McCullick, all of Wauzeka; four sisters, Lorraine (Eugene) Olson of Sparta, Adeline Clements of St. Joseph's Ridge, Barbara Walker of Tomah and Charlotte (Byron) Schmitz of Sparta and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, LaVerne "Butch" Mlsna. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomah, burial will follow at the Greenfield Cemetery in Tunnel City, the Very Rev. Steven Kachel will officiate. Family and friends are invited to the visitation at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services.

WILMA McCORMICK
Wilma S. McCormick 99, of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Seneca, began her eternal life in Heaven on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Brunson Terrace in Prairie du Chien. She was born August 31, 1904, in Barnum, daughter of Marion and Panthea (Haskins) Barnum. In 1925 she began her teaching career in a one room school. She taught for 10 years, then on June 25, 1927, she married Francis (Fritz) McCormick at St. Mary's Church in Gays Mills. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1997. In 1945 she returned to college to get her degree in teaching from UW LaCrosse. In 1946 she returned to Seneca where she taught for the next 24 years. Wilma and her husband Fritz presided as King and Queen of one of the first St. Patrick's Day Parades in Prairie du Chien in 1996. She is survived by a son Francis (Patsy) of Ferryville, a daughter Marian Swanson of Seneca, a daughter-in-law Lavonne McCormick of Rocklin, Calif., a son-in-law William Bell of Waukesha, a brother Edward (Doretta) Barnum of Brookfield, 20 grandchildren, 43 great- grandchildren and 12 great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son James, a daughter Helen Bell, 2 brothers; Frank and LaVerne Barnum and 5 sisters; Bessie Kreutz, Sr. Mary Therese, Mildred Porter, Hazel Young and Esther Barnum. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Seneca, Rev. Eugene Wolf officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church hall on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the time of services. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien, is assisting the family.

MILES DAVIS
Miles G. Davis, 1, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien. He was born August 27, 2002, in Prairie du Chien to Jeremiah Davis and Delaine Hurda. Surviving are his parents, Delaine Hurda and Jeremiah Davis of Prairie du Chien; half brother, Indiana Davis of Prairie du Chien; grandparents, Greg and Sue Hurda of Boscobel, grandparents, Roger and Carma Stempke of Hazelton, Iowa, grandfather, John Davis of Detroit, Mich.; great-grandparents Bill and Ardith Sander of Wauzeka, great-grandmother, Florence Hurda of Wauzeka; Great grandmothers, Leola Strempke of West Gate, Iowa, and Marieatta Forney of Oelwein, Iowa; aunt, Kaylee Hurda of Boscobel, uncle Travis Davis of Hazelton, Iowa, cousins, Daniel McClimans and Tyler Peterson. Services are Monday at the Beeman-Patchak Funeral Home in Boscobel, Pastor Lynn Schreck officiating with burial in the Wauzeka Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be given to the family.

KATHERINE MARTIN
}Katherine M. Martin 69, of Prairie du Chien died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born July 25, 1934, in Prairie du Chien, daughter of Lester and Mabel (Valley) Hubbard. She married Cecil Martin on October 20, 1957. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1985. She worked as a greeter at Wal Mart in Prairie du Chien for the past 20 years and was a member of the Bagley American Legion Auxiliary and the Eagles Club Auxiliary. Katherine was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed. She is survived by a son Cecil (DeAnna) Martin of Bagley, four daughters; Kathleen (Jim) Powers, Cheryl (Matt) Corlett and Shelia (Dave) Ingle all of Prairie du Chien and Ginny (Larry Dahms) of Wauzeka; a brother Bill (Yvonne) Hubbard of Prairie du Chien, a sister Charlotte (Burdette) Wayne Nashua, Iowa, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Kenneth Hubbard, a sister Virginia Hubbard and one great-grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Rev. Hubert Boschert SJ officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Thursday, at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, where there will be an Eagles Auxiliary Tribute at 7:30 p.m. and a wake scripture at 8 p.m.

IRENE MENNE
Irene M. Menne, 86, Cassville, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born May 4, 1917, in Glen Haven, daughter of Matt and Anna (Hochhausen) Rauch. On September 4, 1940, she married Henry Menne of Tennyson, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glen Haven. Henry and Irene lived in Tennyson for 4 1/2 years, where Henry worked for an implement dealer. On Feb. 13, 1946 they moved to Patch Grove where they started an implement business of their own. On Nov. 29, 1960, Henry passed away after being sick for three years. Irene stayed in Patch Grove until July 4, 1961. After selling the business, she moved to Dickeyville where she worked for 4 1/2 years at a motel. On Jan. 19, 1966, she moved to Cassville where she worked at Rapid Die and Molding for 20 years. Upon retiring, Irene volunteered at the Cassville meal site for the elderly for many years. Although she never had children, Irene adored her 29 nieces and nephews. Surviving are a sister, Jeanette Reiser, Bloomington; three brothers, Gerald (Dolores) Rauch, Glen Haven, Francis (Helen) Rauch, Dickeyville, and Edward (Kay) Rauch, Dubuque, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Rauch, Fullerton, Calif., Arlene Rauch, Cassville, and Virginia Rauch, Dubuque, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, including a special nephew, Tom (Sharon Schiffman) Rauch, Cassville and special great-nephews, Nicholas and Andrew Rauch. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Vincent, Richard, Edmund, James and Joe Rauch; and a brother-in-law, Norbert Reiser. Services were Monday, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville, Monsignor Daniel Ganshert officiating with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery in Tennyson. The Martin Page Funeral Home in Cassville assisted the family.

KATHLEEN BAHLS
Kathleen E. Bahls 77, of Prairie du Chien, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, following a five year battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 20, 1925, in Reed Township, Clayton County, Iowa, daughter of George and Katherine (Schmelzer) Rolfes. After high school she worked at Douglas Aircraft in Chicago, Ill. She married Mike Bahls on April 29, 1946, at St. Joseph's Church in Garnavillo, Iowa. Together they operated the only two taverns in Garnavillo for several years. They moved to Prairie du Chien in 1958, where Kathy worked in the office of the General Hospital for many years until it closed. She later worked at WalMart in Prairie du Chien which she truly enjoyed. She is survived by a son Sidney (Sue) Bahls and a daughter Kristi Bahls both of Prairie du Chien; six grandchildren; Cindy Burja and Angie Ames, Donavan, Melissa and Jeff Bahls and Andy Bahls, two great-grandchildren, Lexie Lenzendorf and Emma Elizabeth Jones; two sisters, Georgia Whittle of Elkader, Iowa and Madonna Rademacher of Garnavillo, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike on July 12, 2003, and a daughter Pamela Welter on July 21, 1998. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003 at 11a.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Rev. John Wambach S.J. officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a wake scripture at 7:30 p.m.

ERIC SCHALLER
Eric W. Schaller, 26, of Boscobel, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, as a result of an auto accident near Boscobel. Eric was born July 19, 1977 in La Crosse to George W. and Alice M. (Kruse) Schaller. He attended St. Mary's School in Cashton. He worked in construction for many years, including K & M Concrete of Madison, as a welder for Gencore/Bituma in Marquette, and also for K's Construction and Cabela's. Surviving are one brother, George (Lori) Schaller and nephew Jacob Schaller of Prairie du Chien; a daughter Abigail Marie Schaller, a son Alexander G. L. Schaller; fiancé April Little and a son on the way of Boscobel. Services are Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call from 11 a.m. Tuesday until time of services at the Funeral Home.

ALOHA COOPER
Aloha A. Cooper, 86, of Prairie du Chien, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien. Aloha was born May 10, 1917 in Eastman to Maurice and Rose (Kussmaul) Kramer. She graduated from high school in Prairie du Chien. She married Milo Cooper in Prairie du Chien. They lived in Eastman for 18 years before moving to Prairie du Chien. Surviving are two daughters, Janet (Patrick) Leamy of Madison, Gloria (Harold) Hutson of Prairie du Chien; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on January 16, 1986, a sister, Blossom Keating, a granddaughter, Jennifer Leamy, a nephew Carl Keating, two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law. Services are Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien with burial in National Cemetery, Eastman. Friends may call Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien and one hour prior to services at the church.

CALVIN MESSLING
Calvin "Kelly" E. Messling, 73, of Soldiers Grove, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at the Vernon Manor, Viroqua. He was born Jan. 24, 1930 in Seneca, son of Ernest and Cynthia (Heisz) Messling. After school he was a farmer, mechanic, and a stock car driver, his greatest passion. He entered the service in 1951, during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. He returned home after being critically injured in a vehicle accident in 1953 that left him visually handicapped. He married Marilyn Knutson, August 31, 1957 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gays Mills. He and Marilyn operated the Coryis Grill in Soldiers Grove for a short time. They perform together as the "Country Runabouts Band" for several years before renal failure, which he battled for nearly six years and heart failure. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Soldiers Grove, and the Running Johnson Ray VFW Post #3032, Viroqua. Kelly is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Soldiers Grove; three daughters, Carn (Dennis) Murphy, Waukon, Iowa, Kimberly (Thomas) Coates, Janesville and Lareena (Jaaren) Riebe, Prairie du Chien; and six grandchildren, Misty and Lee Coates, Janesville, and Anne, Jaalen, Alissa and Allison Riebe, Prairie du Chien; two brothers, Bob (Ruth Ann) Messling, Mt. Sterling and Ronnie (WhiteyÓ (Rita) Messling, Viroqua; three sisters, Julia (Weldon) Larmore, Boscobel, Bernice (Harry) Cooper, Patch Grove and Harriett Jeidy, Mineral Point; by two sisters-in-law, Elaine Barton, Steuben and Margie Messling, Prairie du Chien. He was preceded in death by his parents, a loving son, Kevin in 1993, brothers, Paul, Edwin (Bud), Roger (Blackie) and an infant sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Soldiers Grove, Rev. Helen Johnson officiating with burial with military rites by the Running Johnson Ray VFW Post in the Gays Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Dommersnaes Bertram Family Funeral Home, Gays Mills and at the church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until time of services.

DOUGLAS DREIER
Douglas David Dreier, Farmersburg, Iowa, infant son of Eugene Dreier and Katherine Schmitt , passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. He was born Nov. 25, 2003 in Prairie du Chien. He is survived by his parents Eugene and Katherine of Farmersburg, Iowa, paternal grandfather Eugene (Barb) Dreier of McGregor, maternal grandparents; Bebee Jones of Prairie du Chien, and Frederick (Kim) Schmitt of Viola, along with numerous loving aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Sally Dreier. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, Rev. Doug Mathison officiating, with burial in the Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.

KELCY JONES
Kelcy Camille Jones, 19, of Luana, Iowa., died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in the Vets Hospital in Waukon following a long illness. Memorial services were held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, November 30, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Highway 9 two miles west of Waukon.

MORRIS SNIDER
Morris R. Snider, 47, Gays Mills, passed away at his home, Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, following a brief illness. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa, son of Marvin and Gethel (McNabb) Snider, on May 11, 1956. Morris was a professional cook for the University of Iowa for over 25 years; he also worked at the Miss Marquette, Marquette, Iowa; he has also worked at Halpin Tire, Prairie du Chien, Richardson Trucking, Boscobel and was a chef at Central Express, Westby. He was very active in the Prairie du Chien Rendezvous and was an avid deer hunter. He loved to hunt with his friends. He married Mildred (Millie) Wild, July 17, 1999, at the Gays Mills United Methodist Church. Morris is survived by his wife, Millie, Gays Mills; a son Jacob Snider, Lone Tree, Iowa; by his parents, Marvin and Gethel (McNabb) Snider, Nevada, Mo.; a brother, Russ (Marge) Snider, Camanche, Iowa; two sisters, Jackie (Ira) Leffler, Washington, Iowa and Barb Snider, Nevada, Iowa; by two step daughters, Reagan and Tara; and by six step grandchildren; and his father-in-law, Millard Wild, Lansing, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, an infant sister, Marvil; and his mother-in-law, Jean Wild in 2002. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Dommersnaes Bertram Family Funeral Home, Gays Mills, Pastor Nancy Allen of Gays Mills, United Methodist Church will officiate with burial to follow in the Gays Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

ROGER HORSTMAN
Roger H. Horstman, 67, of La Crosse passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003. He was born in Wyalusing Township, on May 11, 1936, to Harry W. and Lela B. (Harville) Horstman. He was united in marriage to Virginia Gillitzer in Prairie du Chien on Sept. 1, 1962. Roger served in the U.S. Navy from January 1955, to December 1958, and his final assignment was as an electrician's mate first class on the USS Intrepid. Following graduation from Milwaukee Institute of Technology in 1963, he was employed in the Research and Development Lab of the Trane Company. In 1973, until his retirement in August of 1998, he was employed at Western Wisconsin Technical College as program director and instructor in the HVAC Program. He was a long time member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and Mary, Mother of the Church Parish and a member of Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530. Roger served as a technical consultant for the Wisconsin Innovation Service Center, served on the Electrical Board and Harbor Committee for the City of La Crosse and on the State Watershed Committee. He was a La Crosse County Board Supervisor representing the 16th District from March 1991 to April 2002. In addition to his wife of 41 years, he is survived by two daughters, Jill (Scott) Thorvilson of Rochester, Minn. and Amy Horstman (Michael Smith) of Vancouver, Wash.; two sons, Michael R. (Sheila) Horstman and Andrew (Lisa) Horstman both of La Crosse; five grandsons, Zachary and Jacob Horstman, Erik, Jon and Alex Thorvilson; three granddaughters, Katherine Thorvilson, Elizabeth and Natalie Horstman; an uncle, Keith (Ruby) Harville of Sun City, Ariz.; an aunt Naldeen Harville of Prairie du Chien and many cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant son Anthony in 1963, a sister, Gail Horstman in 1987, his father in 1988 and his mother in 2000. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Rev. David Kunz officiating. Entombment with military honors by Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530 will follow at the Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse where a Christian wake service will be held at 6:15 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Clare Health Mission, Gundersen-Lutheran Cancer Center or Gundersen-Lutheran Hospice Program.

DONALD PRESTON
Donald D. Preston, 70, of Arkansas, formerly of Boscobel, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. He was born Feb. 25, 1933 in Madison to Charles C. and Augusta Trumm Preston, he married Louise Canova in 1981. She died in 1988. He was an Army veteran. He was district manager for Proctor and Gamble, retiring in 1988. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Augusta and Ora Rider of Wauzeka; one daughter, Christy (Dr. Bob) Holder of Bentonville, Arkansas; and one sister, Lois (Louis) Demanes of Peoria, Ill. He was also preceded in death by his father. Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wauzeka, where visitation was one hour before. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Company was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 107 Dousman, Wauzeka, Wis. 53826.

DOROTHY HUTCHCROFT
Dorothy W. Hutchcroft, 86, of Bloomington died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born Oct. 26, 1917, in Bloomington township, the daughter of John and Anna Caroline (Mason) Krantz. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1936. On Sept. 11, 1965, she married William Hutchcroft at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1986. Dorothy was a beautician most of her life. She owned and operated her beauty shop in Bloomington. She was a member of the Bloomington United Methodist Church and helped with many of the ladies' activities. She also enjoyed traveling and crocheting. She is survived by a niece, Virginia (Robert "GabbyÓ) Walz, Bagley; two nephews, Vernon (Lois) Krantz, Lancaster; and Fred Krantz, Madison; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; four brothers, Arnie, Lloyd, Ora and Art; and a niece-in-law, Deanna Krantz. Funeral services were Monday at the Martin Page Funeral Home in Bloomington, Rev. David Leistra officiating with burial in Blakes Prairie Cemetery, Bloomington township.

DALE MARSO
Dale F. Marso, 75, a retired machinist for Universal Eng., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Ocala Regional Medical Center, Ocala, Florida. He was a native of Wisconsin, moved to Florida from Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1991. He was a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church and American Legion Post 354. He loved traveling, sports, fishing and hunting. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Theresa M. Marso, Ocala, and his beloved pets, Buffy, Bimbo, Mr. Webster, Nellie, Queen Smokey, Sam and Mikie; three sisters, Bobbie Blum, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Millie Curley, Madison, and Nan Turner, Solon, Iowa.

INEZ RUHSER
Inez W. Ruhser, 86, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Clayton County, Iowa died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Prairie Health Care Center in Prairie du Chien. She was born Dec. 5, 1916, in Clayton County to Ben and Ernestine (Meenan) Funk. She married Willy Ruhser on Oct. 30, 1935 in Clayton County. She lived most of her life in the Clayton Center area and had been living the past several years in Prairie du Chien. She donated her body to the University of Iowa Medical School in appreciation for their help and care she received during her cancer treatment. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Virginia (Ruhser) Moore of Round Rock, Texas; three grandchildren, Brett Ruhser of Hawaii, Scot Ruhser in Texas, and Erik Ruhser in Colorado and four great-grandchildren and several cousins. There will be no services. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church at Clayton Center, Iowa or the Cornerstone Four Square Church in Prairie du Chien.

CAROL MULROONEY
Carol F. Mulrooney, 66, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Carol was born July 26, 1937, in Eastman, daughter of Thomas and Anne (Honzel) Zinkle. She married Jack Mulrooney on Oct. 7, 1961, in Prairie du Chien. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Prairie du Chien. She was employed at the bank in Prairie du Chien in her younger years and then worked for the River Ridge School district as a Library Aid along with helping on the family farm. Carol enjoyed traveling, fishing and gambling, but her true loves were her faith and her family. She was a member of the St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church and served on various boards within the church and the Mt. Hope Homemaker's Club. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her husband, Jack, Mt. Hope; three sons, Kevin Mulrooney, Mt. Hope, Jim Mulrooney, Mt. Hope, and Scott (Jill) Mulrooney, Janesville; four grandchildren, Scotty, Tayli, Tyler, and Amanda; three brothers, Father Ronald Zinkle, S.J., Lyndon Station, Terry (Dawn) Zinkle, Prairie du Chien and Tom Zinkle, Calif.; one sister, Marilyn Huser, Bagley. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services were Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fennimore, Father George Horath and Father Ronald Zinkle S.J. officiating with burial in St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church Cemetery, Mt. Hope Township. The Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore assisted the family.

EDWARD BUDLER
Edward E. Budler 77, of Wauzeka, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. He was born May 14, 1926, in Clinton, Ill., son of Eugene and Josephine (DeGrace) Budler. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II in the submarine division. He married Jean Seidelman on Aug. 13, 1948, in Chicago, Ill. Ed invented and developed food service equipment and enjoyed carpentry. He worked at 3M company in Prairie du Chien until his retirement. He is survived by his wife Jean of Wauzeka; a son Kevin of Rapid City, S.D.; a sister Mary Peters of Dallas, Texas, five grandchildren; Lisa Ricardo Esparza, Edward Budler Ronzoni, Jill Monroe, Ceasar Ronzani, Santina Ronzani; six great-grandchildren; Jessica and Kevin Burke, Mari Elena and Marco Esparza, Morgan Barbara and Julien Ronzoni. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Geraldine Talluto. A Memorial service will be Thursday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wauzeka. Interment will be private. BERNICE HORSFALL
Bernice E. Horsfall, 88, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Bloomington, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003,
at Prairie Health Care Center, Prairie du Chien. She was born Oct. 3, 1915 in Trevor, daughter of Mark and Georgine (Peterson) Curtiss. On May 18, 1940 she married Ralph Horsfall in Dubuque. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1995. For a time, Bernice lived in the Madison area. She later worked for Phillips 66 Truck Stop and later retired in the Prairie du Chien area. Surviving are her brothers and sisters-in-law, Marion Manion, Margaret Taft, Lela (Alex) Caygill, Jim (Joan) Horsfall, Robert Horsfall, Calvin (Hannah) Horsfall and Paul (Maxine) Horsfall; and her niece and nephews, Judith (Frank) Santoni, Tempe, Ariz., Frank (Donna) Curtiss, Minneapolis, Minn. and James Curtiss, Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; her parents; two sons, Russell and Rodney; and her brothers and sisters, Gladys Curtiss, Harry Curtiss, Elenor Elsie Curtiss, Chester Curtiss, and Mary Elizabeth Curtiss. Graveside services were Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. at Bloomington Cemetery, Bloomington, Rev. David Leistra officiating. The Martin Page Funeral Home in Bloomington assisted the family.

ASHLEY ARENDT
Ashley Sue Arendt, 16, of Mineral Point, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville. Ashley was born on June 13, 1987 in Platteville, daughter of John Arendt and Sue Curtis. Ashley was a sophomore at Mineral Point High School, where her activities included FFA, choir and FCLA. She was an active participant in the Iowa County Teen Court and worked for the Owen family at Wayne's Amoco in Mineral Point. Ashley spent her happiest times having fun with her friends. Her fresh sense of humor and sharp wit were just some of her attractive qualities as a person. Surviving are her parents, John Arendt and Sue Curtis; her twin sister, Alison; her brother, Adam all of Mineral Point, her paternal grandmother, Beryl Arendt, of Antigo; her maternal grandmother, Lola Shinko of Eastman; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Sgt. Felix Arendt and maternal grandfather, Tom Shinko. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mineral Point, Fr. James Hinnen officiating with burial in Graceland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-8 on Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. EARL FULLER
Earl R. Fuller, 82, Bagley, died Friday night, Nov. 7, 2003, at Prairie Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien. Earl was born in Bagley on Sept. 11, 1921 to Edward and Lydia (Meng) Fuller. He married Doris Hamilton on Nov. 1, 1941, in Dubuque. Earl was in the second infantry during WWII and fought at the invasion of Normandy. He was a life long importer and exporter of hardwood timber and owner of Fuller Walnut Company. Earl had been mayor of Bagley for many years as well as a former deputy sheriff of Grant County. He also served on the Grant County Board for many years. For many years he was a Master Mason and proud of being a Zor Shriner. He was a very active outdoorsman, rodeo fan and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a life long member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Bagley. Surviving are two children, Doreen (Charles) Renz, Ft. Atkinson; Dennis (Bonnie) Fuller, Prairie du Chien; six grandchildren, Denise (Glenn) Marshall, Bagley, Kelly (Dan) Steiger, Bagley, Roger Renz, Jefferson, Michelle Fuller, Prairie du Chien, Stacie Renz, Naples, Fla., Barron (Becky) Fuller, Prairie du Chien; five great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; eight siblings, Ida Marie Clark (and friend Bob Karnopp), Prairie du Chien; Irene (Larry Salmon, Prairie du Chien; Maxine (Herb) Wolf, Coon Valley; Emma (Harold) Posten, Prairie du Chien; Linda (Rex) Day, Prairie du Chien; Edward (Doris) Fuller, Prairie du Chien, Gary (Rita) Fuller, Prairie du Chien and Leo Fuller, Lancaster. THOMAS LORD
Thomas G. Lord age 69 of Lynxville, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, after an extended illness. He was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Adams County, son of Delbert and Ruth (Williams) Lord. He married Arlene Lund on July 20, 1957, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa. He worked at John Deere in Dubuque, Iowa for 21 years and later farmed in the Richland Center and Dodgeville areas. He loved fishing and belonged to the Falling Rock Walleye Club. He is survived by his wife Arlene of Lynxville, five daughters; Betty Lord and Linda Pagel both of Montfort, Bonnie Lord of Dodgeville, Brenda (Bill) Koppen of Cuba City, and Laurie Lord of Cassville; two sons; Thomas Jr. of Linden, and John of Ridgeway; his mother Ruth Lord of Mt. Horeb; five brothers; James of Roy, Mont., Joe of Janesville, Delbert Jr. (Lee) of Fullerton, Calif., Bill (Ginny) of DeSoto, and Roy (Jean) of Mazomanie; five sisters; Donna (Keith) Anderson of Corona, Calif., Ann Nyhus and Roselee (David) Lossenegger both of Mt. Horeb, Doris (Al) Kuhne of Janesville, and Mary Bendick of Mineral Point, along with five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother Glenn. DUANE HAMPTON
Duane E. Hampton, 80, Waunakee, formerly of Patch Grove, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Middleton Village Nursing and Rehabilitation in Middleton. He was born August 15, 1923, in Glen Haven township, son of Roy and Marie (Edwards) Hampton. On February 16, 1950, he married Mary Rita Mezera at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman. She preceded him in death on April 22, 1994. Duane farmed his whole life and he really enjoyed people. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Patch Grove and a former member of the Montello Lions Club. Surviving are two children, Dennis Hampton and Diane Hampton, both of Waunakee; a sister, LaVonne Lenth, Bagley; a half-brother, Russell (Sherri) Hampton, Horicon; his stepmother, Byrdia Hampton, Horicon; two brothers-in-law, Harold (Ethel) Mezera, Junction City and Francis (Betty) Mezera, Eau Claire; six sisters-in-law, Rosie Trautsch, Prairie du Chien, Sr. Francis Claire, La Crosse, Catherine (John) Steger, Prairie du Chien, Dorothy Days, Washington, D.C., Rose Hampton, Bloomington, and Florence Foster, Patch Grove; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Elsie Cecka, Prairie du Chien. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and three brothers, Donald, Jim and Norbert Hampton. Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Patch Grove with Father Eric Nielsen and Father Dave Timmerman officiating and burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Patch Grove township. INEZ DRUYOR
Inez L. Druyor 98, of Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at Prairie Health Care Center in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Inez was born Dec. 16, 1904 in Minnesota to John and Martha (Ortman) Bock. She attended Beauty School and owned and operated a Beauty Salon in Elkader, Iowa for several years. She married J. Alvin Druyor on February 6, 1928, in Tampa, Fla. They lived most of their lives in Prairie du Chien, where they owned and operated The Press Newspaper for many years. J. Alvin died on April 29, 1990. Surviving are a daughter, Gwendolyn (Gordon) Bell of San Francisco, Calif. and two grandchildren. Private graveside services will be held at Elkader City Cemetery, Elkader, Iowa. VIRGINIA KUSSMAUL
Virginia M. Kussmaul 86, who has resided in Bloomington and Janesville for the past seven years died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born July 9, 1917, in Waukon, Iowa, daughter of Cornelius and Rose (McNally) Regan. She married Alvin Kussmaul at St. Wenceslaus Church in Eastman. He preceded her in death in 1995. Virginia was a bird watcher and enjoyed playing with her pet poodles. She was a fan of the television game show "The Price is Right" and liked to sit in the sun and watch the traffic pass her home. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by two sons; James (Mary) of Bloomington, and Bill (Sandy) of Janesville; a daughter Donna (Roger) Becwar of Eastman; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Robert, a grandson, a great granddaughter and a brother Cornelius. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, Msgr. John McCarthy officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. FRANCIS MAYER
Francis X. Mayer 69, of Prairie du Chien died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 12, 1934, in McGregor, son of Anton and Pearl (DuCharme) Mayer. He served in the U.S. Air Force and later worked as a contract administrator for the Department of Defense until his retirement. He enjoyed golf and was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by four brothers; Bernard (Rosanna) and Maurice (Betty) both of Prairie du Chien, John of Davenport, Iowa and Rev. Lawrence A. Mayer O. Praem of Chicago, Ill., two sisters; Mildred (Floyd) Sanders of Rapid City, S.D. and Judith (Thomas) Krug of Racine. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in law Mary Mayer. A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be Thursday, Nov. 6, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church with interment of the cremains in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. CARL GAULKE
Carl J. Gaulke, 90, of Prairie du Chien died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was born Oct. 5, 1913, in Prairie du Chien, son of William and Susan (Meyer) Gaulke. He married Thelma Fawcett on July 5, 1960, in Beloit. He worked and retired from Beloit Corporation after 29 years of service. After retirement he and his wife worked at M&I Bank of Beloit until they relocated to Prairie du Chien. He is survived by a son Donald Gaulke of Prairie du Chien; 2 stepsons; Larry (Nancy) Elmer of Prairie du Chien and Glenn (JoAnn) Elmer of Fond du Lac; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thelma, a daughter and two brothers. Funeral Services will be Thursday, Oct. 30, at 11:30 a.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. BERTINA MIKKELSON
Bertina G. Mikkelson, 92, of rural Soldiers Grove, passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. She was born May 11, 1911 in Crawford County, daughter of Jacob and Selma (Gald) Tisthammer. She married Arnold Weeks in 1930, he passed away in 1935. Bertina married Clifford Mikkelson in 1940. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage residing on the Mikkelson family farm until the time of her death. Surviving are her husband, Clifford and four children, Roger (Carole) Weeks, La Crosse, Beverly (Ramon) Cram, Tomah, Frank (Mary) Weeks, Prairie du Chien and Annette (Tony) Guldenaar, Sparta; she is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Marie, one brother, Joseph, one grandson, Arnold Weeks, and two granddaughters, Nancy Jean and Lynn Marie Weeks. Bertina was a faithful member of Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church, W.E.L.C.A. and the Martha Circle. She had a strong faith in God and an abiding love for her husband, Clifford and her family. She truly felt that her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was her friend. Services were Monday at the Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church, Pastor Gary Wees officiating with burial in the church cemetery. LYLE POSTEN
Lyle R. Posten, 65, Bloomington, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Meriter Hospital in Madison. Lyle was born Dec. 11, 1937 in Patch Grove, son of Ora and Hazel (Gordon) Posten. He attended country grade schools and graduated from Patch Grove High School. On July 2, 1966, he married Mildred "MikkiÓ Klinkenberg in Prairie du Chien. He was a past member of the National Guard. He worked with his father farming, while also working at International Harvestore Machine Sales in Prairie du Chien for 14 1/2 years. While at International Harvestore, he delivered machinery and worked as a mechanic and painter. He then worked for Moore transportation in Prairie du Chien for 30 years, working as a long haul trucker. Surviving are his wife, Mikki Posten, Bloomington; three children, Monica (Ken) Hodgson, Argyle; Pamela (Tom) Budworth, Prairie du Chien; and Robert (Karla) Posten, Prairie du Chien; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold (Emma Jean) Posten, Prairie du Chien. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Martin Page Funeral Home in Bloomington, Rev. Susan Brown officiating with burial in Union Nagle Cemetery, Patch Grove township. HELEN HOLTAN
Helen McCloskey Holtan, 100, of Prairie du Chien died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at the Prairie Health Care Center. She was born Nov. 7, 1902. in Fennimore, daughter of Peter and Lena (Kreul) Gunderson. She attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison and taught music in the Public Schools in Prairie du Chien for many years. She married Clement McCloskey in 1923. He preceded her in death in 1959. She later married Pastor Walter Holtan in 1978. He preceded her in death in 1989. Helen was an active member of St. Peter Church in Prairie du Chien and was a member of the Retired Teacher's Assn. and the 20th Century Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing bridge. She is survived by a son Don McCloskey of Madison; a daughter Janet (Charles) Thulin of Cedar Rapids, IA, five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law Irene McCloskey and a sister Hilda Gunderson. Funeral services will be Friday, at 11a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rev. Dr. Harold Haas, DDS, 79, Calmar, Iowa died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003 at his daughter's home in Fort Atkinson, Iowa following a short illness.

FRANCIS STLUKA
Francis "Frank" Stluka, 73, of Streamwood, Ill., died Sunday, October 12, 2003, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 15, 1930. in Prairie du Chien. Frank served in the Air Force in the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Howell Tractor in Elk Grove, Ill. as a mechanic for 35 years. He was the husband of Mary (Kobelic) Stluka; father of Susan Hoffman; grandfather of Christopher; and brother of Evelyn Osthoff of Madison; Robert (Lisette) of Auburn, Wash; Dolores (Raymond) Bauerle of Streamwood, Ill. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary (Check) Stluka; and by his brother, Edward. Frank and his brothers, along with other childhood friends, were instrumental in the erecting the "PdC" letters on the hillside.

LONETA BOHLAND
Loneta May Bohland, 91, of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Retreat, rural DeSoto died on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 16, 2003, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born May 30, 1912 at St. Charles, Minn. to William and Laura (Barker) Long. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On April 28, 1934 she married Otto Bohland in La Crosse. They lived in the rural DeSoto and Retreat area until 1979 when they moved to Prairie du Chien. She worked at various jobs after her children were grown. She loved to play cards, knit, crochet, sew, cook and bake goodies for her family and friends. She loved doing "stuff" with the great grandchildren. Mr. Bohland died on January 25, 1994 and she moved to Rivercrest Apartments and now was living at Steiner Terrace. Loneta is survived by her daughter, Rita (Gene) Zink of Milton; two sons, Lyle (Ellie) Bohland of Janesville and Larry (Phyllis) Bohland of Prairie du Chien; three granddaughters, Joleen (Dean) Kaehler, Lori Bohland, and Trisha Zink, seven grandsons, Kevin (fiancee, Jenny) Bohland, Bill (Michele) Bohland, Scott Bohland, Gary (Tabitha) Bohland, Gerald (Lisa) Bohland, Ricky Bohland and Ted Zink; six great-granddaughters, Michelle Carney, Jennifer and Sydney Bohland, Rachel and Miranda Clift, and Megan Bohland, seven great-grandsons, Jordan Kaehler, Danny and Jeremiah Clift, Taylor and Torie Richardson and Gage and Drake Bohland; two sisters-in-law, Ethel (Morris) Rook and Kathryn Elliott, both of DeSoto, other relatives and many friends. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bernard 'Bernie' Long and a sister, Evelyn Bohland. Services were held Sunday at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua, Pastor Douglas L. Mathison officiating with burial in the Walnut Mound Cemetery at Retreat. Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Bohland, Ted Zink, Bill Bohland, Gary Bohland, Scott Bohland, Gerald Bohland, and Ricky Bohland. A visitation was held Saturday afternoon at the funeral home.

NANCY CLARK
Nancy Arms Clark, born August 7, 1941; died October 12, 2003. Nancy loved life and lived it to the fullest. To give an account of her life will take up more space than available. So instead, a list of highlights is presented here . . . Nancy was born in Rockford, Ill. As a toddler she moved to Prairie du Chien with her mother Emma and her brother Don. Shortly after she welcomed a baby brother Bud. This family raised her along with her extended family Granpa Chumpy, Special Aunt Rosie and Uncle George. Nancy soon became an active helper in the garden. Her love for the earth and gardening followed her throughout her life. She was always ready to go on an extended expedition whenever possible. She attended St. John's Grade School and St. Mary's Academy in Prairie du Chien. After graduation she worked for the General Telephone Co. until she met and married Jack Clark. Jack and Nancy lived several places and finally settled in Janesville. Nancy soon became very busy raising five children, Greg, Michel, Renee, Dan and Darren. They were the love of her life! She found life busy keeping up with her children. Even with a full schedule, she made time to get her Real Estate license and found success in this new career. In her 40's she decided to go back to college. She attended UW Madison and graduated with honors with a degree in Earth Sciences. At age 50, with children grown and degree in hand, off to Texas she went which was a destination she often dreamed of. She taught in the public school system until taking a teaching position at Texas Juvenile Correctional Facility. She taught there until her illness brought her back to Wisconsin in 2000. The past three years, Nancy has fought a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy will be sadly miss by her children: Greg, Michel and Laura, Dan and special friend Lisa, Renee and Steve, and Darren and Irene; grandchildren, Jordan, Riley, Delaney, Matthew, Shelby, Mackenzie and Taylor; her brother Bud and wife Ginger. She is also survived by her half brothers, Don and Lee and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Preceding her in death is her mother Emma, father Lewis, a special Aunt Rosie and grandson Mitchell Clark. "We come from the earth, we return to the earth and in between we garden.'' There will be a memorial service in Nancy Clark's honor at a later date.

ANDREW NASH
Andrew "Andy" Nash Jr., 82, of Madison, died on Saturday, October 4, 2003, at the VA Hospital. Andy was born on July 29, 1921 in Miles City, Montana to Andrew and Nora Nash. He graduated from Lansing, Iowa High School in 1940. He then attended Vocational School in LaCrosse from 1940-1942. Andy married Juanita West in Viroqua, WI, on February 20, 1943. In World War II he served in the Pacific Theater in the U.S. Army Ha. Co. 72nd Mortar Battalion attached to the 5th Amphibian Marines. After his service Andy worked as an auto mechanic for 35 years. He served with the Army National Guard as a Warrant Officer and the Air National Guard from which he retired as a Master Sergeant in 1979. While Andy was a member of the 115th CAM Squad, Wisconsin Air National Guard Traffic Safety Patrol, he was honored by Governor Knowles for saving the lives of two children. Andy was a member of Lakeview Lutheran Church, American Legion 333, a charter and life member of VFW Post 8483 and life member of D.A.V. Chapter #2. He is survived by his wife Juanita; one son, John (Karen) Nash of Madison; four daughters, Janice (Gary) LaRue of Sun Prairie, Joan (Paul) Watkins of New Glarus, Candace (Gerald) Doucette of New Bern, NC and Lori Nash of Madison; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith, his parents, brother, Sam and sister, Evelyn. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 9, 2003 at Lakeview Lutheran Church, 4001 Mandrake, Road, with Reverend Dean Kirst officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The Ryan Funeral Home assisted the family. Andy was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

EDWARD WILSON
Edward "Ed" Hoskins Wilson, 64,of Waterloo, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at home of complications resulting from prostate cancer. He was born April 15, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., son of Edward Latimer and Harriet Hoskins Wilson. He married Susan Mast on February 9, 1963, in San Diego, Calif. where Ed was stationed aboard the destroyer, U.S.S. Lofberg. Ed was a graduate of the University of Iowa. Following his military service, he worked as Marketing Director for Winnebago Industries, Inc. in Forest City, Iowa before moving to Waterloo. Until his retirement, Ed was president of Iowa Show Productions, Inc. which produced annual sports, home, boat and antique shows in northeast Iowa. Ed was active in many civic organizations including past president of the Waterloo Rotary Club, past district Governor of Rotary District 5970, Rotary Group Study team leader to England, member of the Waterloo Convention and Visitors Bureau, past chair of the Black Hawk County Conservation Board, member of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, past treasurer of the International Sports Show Producers Association, member of the Clear Lake Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and past president of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony Board. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Sue; two sons, Edward "Ted" (Karen) of La Crosse, and Michael (Jennifer) of Alexandria, Va. and two granddaughters, Tegan and Emma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Latimer and Harriet Hoskins Wilson. Services were Friday, October 10, at the First Congregational Church in Waterloo. A memorial visitation was held at the Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, An Overton Family Service Thursday. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at the website www.overtonservice.com. Burial will be at sea at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.

JULIA STEINBERG
Julia Steinberg 99, of Prairie du Chien, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 11, 1903, in Prairie du Chien, daughter of Stanley and Anna (Souhrada) Marousek. She married Robert Steinberg in 1924, at St. Peter Church in Prairie du Chien. He preceded her in death in 1969. Julia worked in the family business, Marousek's Bakery for many years and served as the treasurer for St. Peter Church for over 25 years. She is survived by a daughter Charlene Steinberg of Sheboygan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers; Stanley and Joseph Marousek, along with a sister Polly Bodamer. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rev. Paul Graham officiating, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Tuesday, Oct. from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, and at the church on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

FLORENTINE NIES
Florentine F. Nies, 85, Patch Grove, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born August 4, 1918 in Darlington, the daughter of Elmer and Josephine (Cornelius) Knautz. On August 4, 1943, she married Max Nies in Darlington. Mrs. Nies (or Tina, as her special education students called her) was a graduate of Platteville Teachers' College and a longtime school teacher in the West Grant School District in Patch Grove. She enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles; and was the longtime organist at St. John's Catholic Church in Patch Grove. She loved singing and was a very talented vocalist. Florentine also farmed with her husband for many years. She lovingly cared for her husband for several years during his illness. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 2001. Surviving are seven children, David (Marilyn) Nies, Prairie du Chien; Dan (Becky) Nies, Patch Grove; Richard (Barb) Nies, Beaver Dam; Julie (Pat) Hoffman, Fennimore; Phil (Cindy) Nies, Patch Grove; Laurie (David) Becker, Hazel Green; and Robert (Loree) Nies, Patch Grove; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; her parents; two sisters, Lucille Pederson and Barbara Knautz; and a brother, James Knautz. Services are Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, Patch Grove with Father Eric Nielsen officiating and burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Patch Grove township. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Martin Page Funeral Home in Bloomington, where a 4:15 p.m. parish scripture service will be held and at the funeral home one hour prior to the time of services Friday morning.

JULIA STEINBERG

ILENE SIDIE
Ilene Kay Sidie, 60, of Mt. Sterling and formerly of Liberty Pole, rural Viroqua, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua, where she had been a resident since Sept. 28. She was born at rural Ferryville to Lisle and Gladys (Wanless) Henthorn on July 7, 1943. She attended Copper Creek rural school and Seneca High School. On July 15, 1959 she married Kenneth Sidie. They farmed in Vernon and Crawford Counties at different sites and then farmed many years at Liberty Pole, rural Viroqua, until 1993. She had worked for the Bethel Home and Services as a house parent since 1987. Although she dealt with cancer since 1990, she never gave up. She considered her clients as family and the same feeling existed toward her. Her compassion and caring was well recognized by fellow employees and people she served so faithfully. She didn't give up working until so ordered by her physician. She also had worked for Webster Hardwoods, Viroqua Area Schools and Hansen Bakery in Viroqua. Ilene was a member of the North West Prairie Lutheran Church and the Esther Circle. She had taught Sunday School for nine years, was ALCW president for two years and had served as a Sugar Creek delegate for six years. In 1995, she and Kenneth moved to Westby. Ilene is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Westby; four sons, Steven of Viroqua, Kevin of Soldiers Grove, Brian (Gwen) of La Crosse and Timothy (Brenda) of Viroqua; nine grandchildren, Courtney, Trevor, Nishan, Tayler, Cody, Scott, Jennifer, Jordan and Bryant; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn Henthorn of Beloit, Ann Ward of Beloit and Marion Groves of Colorado Spring, Colo., other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Ardith, Arlin, Byron and Lyle Henthorn. Services will be Friday at North West Prairie Lutheran Church, Pastor Helen Johnson officiating with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Thornson Funeral Home in Viroqua where there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and at the church after 10 a.m. Friday.

CLIVE MASON
Clive J. "Pete" Mason, 71, Bloomington, formerly of Glen Haven, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, after a brief illness at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born May 24, 1932 in Bloomington, son of Melvin and Ruth (Brown) Mason. Pete graduated from Bloomington High School in 1949. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On Dec. 5, 1958 he married Catherine L. Briel at Liberty Ridge Church, rural Lancaster. She preceded him in death on May 4, 1998. His lifelong passion was farming and raising purebred registered Angus cattle. Pete was in partnership with his brothers at Sunnyside Angus Farm in Glen Haven. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, and attending local cattle shows and fairs. Surviving are three children, Christine (David) Alexander, Rockford, Ill., David (Rochelle) Campbell, Bloomington, and Julie (Daniel) Hermsen, Bloomington; seven grandchildren, William (Brenda) Kitelinger, Robert (Rhonda) Kitelinger, James (Patricia) Kitelinger, David Hermsen, Jennifer (Brian) Thiry, Katie Hermsen, and Mary Catherine Campbell; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack (Patty) Mason, Glen Haven; five sisters, Doris (Morris) Clevidence, Madison, Shirley Meier and Jill Mason, both of Glen haven, Virginia (Dean) Ziegler, Sun Prairie and Linda (Duane) Hoffman, Bloomington; a special family friend, Sharon Myers and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation was Monday from 3-7 p.m. at the Martin Page Funeral Home in Bloomington and at the church one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning.

BEVERLY GROVES
Beverly A. Groves, 56, of Prairie du Chien died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at the UW Hospital in Madison. She was born Aug. 1, 1947, in Monroe, daughter of William and E. Geraldine (Swinson) Morelock. She worked at the Opportunity Center in Prairie du Chien for many years and will be sadly missed by her friends and relatives. She is survived by two sisters; Marjorie (Rudy) Ramirez and Shirley (George) Roberts both of Gays Mills; two half brothers; Ross (Roxy) Morelock of Osceola, and Rex (Donna) Morelock of McHenry, Ill., a half sister Roxanne Gallager of Arcadia, Fla., along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved "Aunt Bevy". She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Vernon Morelock. Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, with John Johnson and Dale Duke officiating. Burial was in the Mook Cemetery in Rolling Ground.

ALICE GAULKE
Alice M. Gaulke age 89, of Prairie du Chien died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at the Four Winds Manor in Verona. She was born March 29, 1914 in Patch Grove, daughter of Edward and Leila (Louisignau) Millin. She married Clement Gaulke on Nov. 23, 1939, in Prairie du Chien. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1981. She worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Prairie du Chien for many years. She is survived by a son George (Elaine) Gaulke of Prairie du Chien; three daughters, Kathy (Roger) Goodman of Prairie du Chien, Karen (Robert) Hatfield of Lebanon, Mo., and Susan (Keith) Kramer of Oregon; two brothers, Arthur Millin of Prairie du Chien and James Millin of LaCrosse, three sisters; Grace Graap and Marjorie (Cappy) Millin both of Prairie du Chien and Lila (Fuzz) Spangler of Richland Center, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Robert, a brother Alan Millin and a sister Frances Bushnell. Funeral services were Wednesday, at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Rev James Warosh S.J. officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien.

Kathleen J. Steiner
Kathleen "Kathy" J. Steiner age 46, passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 at the Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 28, 1957 in Guttenberg, IA, daughter of Owen and Mary Jane (Cyert) Wanek. She graduated from UW-River Falls and taught for some time in the Twin Cities area. She married Brian Steiner on Apr. 20, 199, at St. Gabriel's Church in Prairie du Chien. Kathy taught third grade at the Bluff View Intermediate School in Prairie du Chien from 1986 until this past year. She is survived by her husband Brian and their two boys, Matthew and Michael of Prairie du Chien; two stepsons - Alexander and Adam Steiner of Woodbury, MN; her parents, Owen and Mary Jane Wanek of Alma; four sisters, Michelle (Keith) Elwood of Hudson, Nancy (John) Stencel of Maple Grove, MN, Patty (Bruce) Rovold of Arcadia and Judy Chapman of Maplewood, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. GabrielÕs Catholic Church, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, 2003 at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a wake scripture at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Prairie Catholic Schools Building Fund.

Lloyd G. Caya
A longtime Prairie du Chien businessman, Lloyd G. Caya,age 85, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. He was born May 11, 1918, in Detroit, MI, son of Lloyd and Margaret (Wainwright) Caya. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He married Marguerite Dagnon on August 18, 1941, at St. Jude's Church in Beloit. He owned and operated Lloyd's Barber Shop in downtown Prairie du Chien for 55 years. He is survived by his wife Marguerite of Prairie du Chien; two sons - Dan (Sandy) St. Olaf and Bill (Ellen) of Glenview IL; six daughters - Julie (Steve) Pitsch, Yvonne Johnston and Monica Brown all of La Crosse, Margaret (Emerson) Barth of Madison, , Cathy (Norb) Swenson and Annette (Dan) Schickert both of Prairie du Chien; a sister Blanche Rodd of Rockford IL; 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Yvonne McCarter and a son-in-law Jeff Brown. A Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church. Rev. James Warosh S.J. officiated. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery. Military rites were accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. Garrity Funeral Home assisted the family.

Glendon D. Rowell
Glendon D. Rowell, age 63 of Lynxville, WI, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003 after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 12, 1940 in Glenmary, AL, son of Fred and Nellie (Crane) Rowell. He worked at Miniature Precision Components in Prairie du Chien, WI. He married Shirley Haas on July 1, 1997 in Rockford, IL. He is survived by his wife Shirley and Stepson Danny Beutel, Lynxville; 3 sisters - Gail (Jim) King of Machesney Pk IL, Patsy Sharp of Rockton IL and Brenda (Michael) Fournier, Marietta OH; 2 brothers - Lee (Faye) of Bono AR and Odis of Rockford; 4 sisters in law - Irene Stading, Prairie du Chien, Linda (Stan) Hagensick, Lynxville, Bambi (Larry) Sauer, Brodhead and Juanita (Clifford) Carpenter, Prairie du Chien; 2 brothers-in-law Franklin (Margaret) Haas, Prairie du Chien and Joe Haas, Janesville; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service was Saturday, Dec. 27 at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Doug Mathison officiated. Irvin A. Meng
Irvin A. Meng, age 94 of Bagley, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003 at the Prairie Health Care Center. He was born October 30, 1909 in Bagley, son of John and Ida (Wolf) Meng. He married Dorothy Helgerson on Sept. 22, 1944, Prairie du Chien. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and later farmed for a number of years. In 1952 he began work for the Grant County Highway Dept. and continued until his retirement. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Bagley, a son James (Rita) Meng of Tony, a daughter DeAnn (Jeff) Schurman of Lake Shore MN, a brother Edward (Birdie) Meng of Bagley, and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers - George, Carl, Richard and John along with 3 sisters; Lena Tyler, Lydia Fuller and Emma Moon. Funeral Services were Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, Zion Lutheran Church, Bagley. Rev. Ruth Ann Shriver officiated, with burial in the Bagley Cemetery. Garrity Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James S. Reilly
James S. Reilly, age 71, Fennimore, and formerly of Prairie du Chien died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003 at the Good Samaritan Center in Fennimore. He was born Dec. 24, 1932 in Prairie du Chien, son of James and Frances (Shema) Reilly. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Donna Borne on March 16, 1957. She preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 1990. He later married Arleen Heer on July 26, 2002 at St. Mary's Church, Fennimore. He owned and operated JR's Janitorial in Prairie du Chien and later worked for General Telephone Company for 17 years until his retirement. He was a member of the VFW and the Eagles Club. He is survived by his wife Arleen Heer-Reilly of Fennimore, 3 sons - Rad (Karen) and Scott (Bonnie) Reilly, Prairie du Chien and Bruce (Diann) Reilly, DeForest, a stepson Jerry (Ellen Engelking) Heer of Wauwa-tosa, 3 stepdaughters; Judy (Mark) Johnson of La Crosse, Janet (Cecil Segelken) Heer, Eau Claire and Jean (Bill) Hore of Lancaster, a stepbrother Jerry Steinberg of Prairie du Chien, 7 grandchildren; Ryan, Nichol, Shannon, Breann, Kwynn, Chet, and Kyle Reilly, 3 step-grandchildren; Kari and Sarah Johnson and Jane E. Heer; 1 great grandchild Dominique Reilly. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Dec. 29, 2003 at St. John's Catholic Church. Rev. NANCY JOHNSON
Nancy (Valley) Johnson, 55, passed away at her home in Chana, Ill. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003. She was born in Prairie du Chien on September 14, 1948, daughter of the late Elmer Sr. and Evalou (Crawford) Valley. She married Mike Johnson in 1971 and moved to Chana, Ill. where Mike is employed by the Railroad. They had two children, Michelle and Loren. Surviving are her husband Mike, daughter Michelle and son Loren (Faith) Johnson and four grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Anna (John) Eastman, Prairie du Chien and two brothers, Elmer Jr. (Patty) Valley of Prairie du Chien and Joseph (Betty) Valley of Sun Prairie; also two half-sisters, Lorraine Siegenthaler of Prairie du Chien and Mrs. Carol (James) Wifnowski of Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by her parents and a half brother, James Kelly. Services are Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Unger Funeral Home, Rochelle, Ill. Visitation is Monday, Dec. 15 from 4-8 p.m. at Unger Funeral Home, Rochelle, Ill.

ALRED MISNA
Alred Misna, 70, of Tomah passed away at his home on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003. He was born on July 4, 1933, on St. Mary's Ridge, to William and Elizabeth (Brueggen) Misna. He married Norma Giese on Sept. 23, 1961 in Milwaukee. Alred was a truck driver and farmed until he was disabled in a traffic accident in 1963. Following this, he and his wife, Norma, moved to this area where they have spent most of their lives. Alred spent most of his time around the home, landscaping and working on his tractor, Hubie. He served in the U.S. Navy and received an Honorable Discharge. Surviving are his wife, Norma; one daughter, Mary (Merlin) Mabb of Wauzeka; four grandchildren, Raymond, Jacob, Bethany and Sara McCullick, all of Wauzeka; four sisters, Lorraine (Eugene) Olson of Sparta, Adeline Clements of St. Joseph's Ridge, Barbara Walker of Tomah and Charlotte (Byron) Schmitz of Sparta and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, LaVerne ÒButch'' Misna. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomah, burial will follow at the Greenfield Cemetery in Tunnel City, the Very Rev. Steven Kachel will officiate. Family and friends are invited to the visitation at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services.

WILMA McCORMICK
Wilma S. McCormick 99, of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Seneca, began her eternal life in Heaven on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Brunson Terrace in Prairie du Chien. She was born August 31, 1904, in Barnum, daughter of Marion and Panthea (Haskins) Barnum. In 1925 she began her teaching career in a one room school. She taught for 10 years, then on June 25, 1927, she married Francis (Fritz) McCormick at St. Mary's Church in Gays Mills. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1997. In 1945 she returned to college to get her degree in teaching from UW LaCrosse. In 1946 she returned to Seneca where she taught for the next 24 years. Wilma and her husband Fritz presided as King and Queen of one of the first St. Patrick's Day Parades in Prairie du Chien in 1996. She is survived by a son Francis (Patsy) of Ferryville, a daughter Marian Swanson of Seneca, a daughter-in-law Lavonne McCormick of Rocklin, Calif., a son-in-law William Bell of Waukesha, a brother Edward (Doretta) Barnum of Brookfield, 20 grandchildren, 43 great- grandchildren and 12 great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son James, a daughter Helen Bell, 2 brothers; Frank and LaVerne Barnum and 5 sisters; Bessie Kreutz, Sr. Mary Therese, Mildred Porter, Hazel Young and Esther Barnum. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Seneca, Rev. Eugene Wolf officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. MORRIS SNIDER
Morris R. Snider, 47, Gays Mills, passed away at his home, Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, following a brief illness. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa, son of Marvin and Gethel (McNabb) Snider, on May 11, 1956. Morris was a professional cook for the University of Iowa for over 25 years; he also worked at the Miss Marquette, Marquette, Iowa; he has also worked at Halpin Tire, Prairie du Chien, Richardson Trucking, Boscobel and was a chef at Central Express, Westby. He was very active in the Prairie du Chien Rendezvous and was an avid deer hunter. He loved to hunt with his friends. He married Mildred (Millie) Wild, July 17, 1999, at the Gays Mills United Methodist Church. Morris is survived by his wife, Millie, Gays Mills; a son Jacob Snider, Lone Tree, Iowa; by his parents, Marvin and Gethel (McNabb) Snider, Nevada, Mo.; a brother, Russ (Marge) Snider, Camanche, Iowa; two sisters, Jackie (Ira) Leffler, Washington, Iowa and Barb Snider, Nevada, Iowa; by two step daughters, Reagan and Tara; and by six step grandchildren; and his father-in-law, Millard Wild, Lansing, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, an infant sister, Marvil; and his mother-in-law, Jean Wild in 2002. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Dommersnaes Bertram Family Funeral Home, Gays Mills, Pastor Nancy Allen of Gays Mills, United Methodist Church will officiate with burial to follow in the Gays Mills Cemetery. STEVEN KRAMER
Steven B. Kramer, 50, Prairie du Chien, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003 in his home. He was born in Prairie du Chien on Oct. 16, 1953 to Franklin and Verla (Bailey) Kramer. He worked for Cabela's in Prairie du Chien and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are his mother, Verla Kramer of La Crosse; three sisters, Diana (Chuck) Hultine of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Sue Ann Moulis of La Crosse and Connie Fox of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four brothers, Ron Kramer, Prairie du Chien, Gerald Kramer of Waukesha, Robert (Judeen) Kramer, DeSoto and Gregory Kramer of Oak Creek; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Art Kramer. A memorial service for Steven will be held Friday, Nov. 21 at the Larson Funeral Home in DeSoto, Rev. Libby Howe officiating with burial in the DeSoto Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 and after 10 a.m. on Friday.

ERIC SCHALLER
Eric W. Schaller, 26, of Boscobel, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, as a result of an auto accident near Boscobel. Eric was born July 19, 1977 in La Crosse to George W. and Alice M. (Kruse) Schaller. He attended St. Mary's School in Cashton. He worked in construction for many years, including K & M Concrete of Madison, as a welder for Gencor/Bituma in Marquette, and also for K's Construction and Cabela's. Surviving are one brother, George (Lori) Schaller and nephew Jacob Schaller of Prairie du Chien; a daughter Abigail Marie Schaller, a son Alexander G. L. Schaller; fiancé April Little and a son on the way of Boscobel. Services are Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. ALOHA COOPER
Aloha A. Cooper, 86, of Prairie du Chien, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien. Aloha was born May 10, 1917 in Eastman to Maurice and Rose (Kussmaul) Kramer. She graduated from high school in Prairie du Chien. She married Milo Cooper in Prairie du Chien. They lived in Eastman for 18 years before moving to Prairie du Chien. Surviving are two daughters, Janet (Patrick) Leamy of Madison, Gloria (Harold) Hutson of Prairie du Chien; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on January 16, 1986, a sister, Blossom Keating, a granddaughter, Jennifer Leamy, a nephew Carl Keating, two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law. Services are Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien with burial in National Cemetery, Eastman. CALVIN MESSLING
Calvin "Kelly" E. Messling, 73, of Soldiers Grove, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at the Vernon Manor, Viroqua. He was born Jan. 24, 1930 in Seneca, son of Ernest and Cynthia (Heisz) Messling. After school he was a farmer, mechanic, and a stock car driver, his greatest passion. He entered the service in 1951, during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. He returned home after being critically injured in a vehicle accident in 1953 that left him visually handicapped. He married Marilyn Knutson, August 31, 1957 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gays Mills. He and Marilyn operated the Coryis Grill in Soldiers Grove for a short time. They perform together as the "Country Runabouts Band'' for several years before renal failure, which he battled for nearly six years and heart failure. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Soldiers Grove, and the Running Johnson Ray VFW Post #3032, Viroqua. Kelly is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Soldiers Grove; three daughters, Carn (Dennis) Murphy, Waukon, Iowa, Kimberly (Thomas) Coates, Janesville and Lareena (Jaaren) Riebe, Prairie du Chien; and six grandchildren, Misty and Lee Coates, Janesville, and Anne, Jaalen, Alissa and Allison Riebe, Prairie du Chien; two brothers, Bob (Ruth Ann) Messling, Mt. Sterling and Ronnie (Whitey" (Rita) Messling, Viroqua; three sisters, Julia (Weldon) Larmore, Boscobel, Bernice (Harry) Cooper, Patch Grove and Harriett Jeidy, Mineral Point; by two sisters-in-law, Elaine Barton, Steuben and Margie Messling, Prairie du Chien. He was preceded in death by his parents, a loving son, Kevin in 1993, brothers, Paul, Edwin (Bud), Roger (Blackie) and an infant sister. Douglas David Dreier, Farmersburg, Iowa, infant son of Eugene Dreier and Katherine Schmitt , passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. He was born Nov. 25, 2003 in Prairie du Chien. He is survived by his parents Eugene and Katherine of Farmersburg, Iowa, paternal grandfather Eugene (Barb) Dreier of McGregor, maternal grandparents; Bebee Jones of Prairie du Chien, and Frederick (Kim) Schmitt of Viola, along with numerous loving aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Sally Dreier. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, Rev. Doug Mathison officiating, with burial in the Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.

KELCY JONES
Kelcy Camille Jones, 19, of Luana, Iowa., died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in the Veteran Memorial Hospital in Waukon following a long illness. Memorial services were held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, November 30, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Highway 9 two miles west of Waukon.

CAROL MULROONEY
Carol F. Mulrooney, 66, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Carol was born July 26, 1937, in Eastman, daughter of Thomas and Anne (Honzel) Zinkle. She married Jack Mulrooney on Oct. 7, 1961, in Prairie du Chien. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Prairie du Chien. She was employed at the bank in Prairie du Chien in her younger years and then worked for the River Ridge School district as a Library Aid along with helping on the family farm. Carol enjoyed traveling, fishing and gambling, but her true loves were her faith and her family. She was a member of the St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church and served on various boards within the church and the Mt. Hope Homemaker's Club. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her husband, Jack, Mt. Hope; three sons, Kevin Mulrooney, Mt. Hope, Jim Mulrooney, Mt. Hope, and Scott (Jill) Mulrooney, Janesville; four grandchildren, Scotty, Tayli, Tyler, and Amanda; three brothers, Father Ronald Zinkle, S.J., Lyndon Station, Terry (Dawn) Zinkle, Prairie du Chien and Tom Zinkle, Calif.; one sister, Marilyn Huser, Bagley. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services were Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fennimore, Father George Horath and Father Ronald Zinkle S.J. officiating with burial in St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church Cemetery, Mt. ROGER HORSTMAN
Roger H. Horstman, 67, of La Crosse passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003. He was born in Wyalusing Township, on May 11, 1936, to Harry W. and Lela B. (Harville) Horstman. He was united in marriage to Virginia Gillitzer in Prairie du Chien on Sept. 1, 1962. Roger served in the U.S. Navy from January 1955, to December 1958, and his final assignment was as an electrician's mate first class on the USS Intrepid. Following graduation from Milwaukee Institute of Technology in 1963, he was employed in the Research and Development Lab of the Trane Company. In 1973, until his retirement in August of 1998, he was employed at Western Wisconsin Technical College as program director and instructor in the HVAC Program. He was a long time member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and Mary, Mother of the Church Parish and a member of Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530. Roger served as a technical consultant for the Wisconsin Innovation Service Center, served on the Electrical Board and Harbor Committee for the City of La Crosse and on the State Watershed Committee. He was a La Crosse County Board Supervisor representing the 16th District from March 1991 to April 2002. In addition to his wife of 41 years, he is survived by two daughters, Jill (Scott) Thorvilson of Rochester, Minn. and Amy Horstman (Michael Smith) of Vancouver, Wash.; two sons, Michael R. (Sheila) Horstman and Andrew (Lisa) Horstman both of La Crosse; five grandsons, Zachary and Jacob Horstman, Erik, Jon and Alex Thorvilson; three granddaughters, Katherine Thorvilson, Elizabeth and Natalie Horstman; an uncle, Keith (Ruby) Harville of Sun City, Ariz.; an aunt Naldeen Harville of Prairie du Chien and many cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant son Anthony in 1963, a sister, Gail Horstman in 1987, his father in 1988 and his mother in 2000. NELDA WEHRLE
Nelda A. Wehrle, 89, Lancaster, formerly of Mt. Hope, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born March 9, 1914 in Mt. Ida township, daughter of John and Amelia (Born) Cohen. She graduated from Fennimore High School in 1932. On Jan. 29, 1935, she married Harles O. Wehrle in Galena, Ill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1984. The couple farmed near Mt. Hope from 1936 - 1997 on the same farm. She loved visiting with her many friends and had a great rapport with young adults. Nelda served on the advisory board for the development of a technical college for Southwest Wisconsin, and along with her husband, she was instrumental in the consolidation of the West Grant school District. She was also an active member and officer of the Grant County Christian Women's Club. Nelda delivered eggs from her farm to many people in the area and was known as the "egg lady" of Mt. Hope. No one ever left her farm hungry. Surviving are two sons, Jerry (Judy) Wehrle, Lancaster; and Greg (Deb) Wehrle, Mt. Hope; three grandsons, Chad (Renee) Wehrle, Ryan (Melissa) Wehrle and Kurt (Jennifer) Wehrle, all of Mt. Hope; a great-grandson, Myles Wehrle; a sister, Carol Hollenberger, Lancaster; and three sisters-in-law, Lois Wehrle, Boscobel; Evelyn Stenner, Fennimore; and Alice Miller, Lancaster. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Alice Hore and three brothers, Lyle, Ralph and Lester Cohen. Services were Monday at the Martin Page Funeral Home in Lancaster, Rev. Jenny Schroeder officiating with burial in Prairie Cemetery, Fennimore.

DELBERT CAHOON
Delbert Orland Cahoon 73, of rural McGregor, died Saturday November 22, 2003 at his home following a long illness. Delbert was born August 11, 1930, in Clayton County, to Kenneth and Alberta (Huff) Cahoon. He graduated from Monona High School. Delbert married Darlene Davies on September 25, 1952, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He served in the Army from December 8, 1954, to December 7, 1956, with the 85th Guided Missile Platoon in El Paso, Texas and also in Detroit, Mich. He farmed in the McGregor area most of his life. He was a member of the American Legion Post #305 in Marquette, and also served as the Commander. He is survived by his wife: Darlene; a daughter: Debra (Brian) Kleinow of Ottawa, Kansas; a son, Perry (Mary) Cahoon of McGregor; five grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie (Maurice) Meyer of McGregor. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday November 25, at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in McGregor, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery McGregor with Military Honors. ANNA NAGEL
Anna M. Nagel, 88, of Prairie du Chien, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Bethany St. Joseph's Center in La Crosse. Anna was born in Eastman Township of Crawford County on January 17, 1915, to John and Barbara (Bertsch) Matousek. She was married to Frank Nagel Jr. at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien on Feb. 21, 1945. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1990. Surviving are two daughters, Marie Nagel-Bunders, Madison and Lucy Couch, Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandsons, Bubba Bunders, Madison and Derek Bunders of Prairie du Chien; one brother, Joe Matousek, Prairie du Chien. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; a son John David who was born August 8, 1946 and died Sept. 12, 1946; two sisters, Mary Heisz and Elsie Ganser and two brothers, Elmer and Alvie Matousek. Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday after 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home.

STANLEY PARKINS
Stanley R. Parkins, 88, of Lancaster, formerly of Bloomington, died Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at the Lancaster Care Center after a long illness. He was born on March 4, 1915 in Beetown Township, son of Harry Leroy and Ruby (Rech) Parkins. On June 6, 1950 he married Edith Kirschbaum at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Edith Parkins, Bloomington; four children, Susan Placko, St. Paul, Minn., Sally (Douglas) Neverman, Minneapolis, Minn.; Rick (Dianne) Parkins, Spanish Fork, Utah; and Ronald (Faye) Parkins, Oregon, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rolla and Lloyd; and a son-in-law, Robert Placko. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. at the Martin Page Funeral Home in Bloomington with Rev. David Leistra officiating and burial will be in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township. CATHERINE WEBSTER
Catherine L. Webster, 97, of Menomonie died Sept. 10, 2003, at the Dunn County Health Care Center, Menomonie. In 1938 they moved to Seneca where her husband worked as school principal. Her husband Bailey passed away June 3, 1974. She spent her winters in the Phoenix, Ariz area for 30 years. Catherine remained in Seneca until 2000 when she moved to Menomonie.

BEVERLY WOLFORD
Beverly J. Wolford 73, of Prairie du Chien, died Weds. Sept. 24, 2003, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born June 14, 1930, in Avalanche, daughter of Otto and Della (DeWitt) Helgerson. She married Robert Wolford on Sept. 22, 1946, at St. Gabriel's Church in Prairie du Chien. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2001. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and rummage sales. She is survived by four daughters, Karen (Al) Althof and Debra (Dave) Morel both of Prairie du Chien, Diana (Steve) Steidl and Janet (Art) Teachout both of La Crosse, three sons Bill and Scot Wolford both of Prairie du Chien and Mike Wolford of Marshfield; three sisters, Mary Averkamp of Prairie du Chien, Dorothy (Irvin) Meng of Bagley, and Pat (Abel) Severhus of Beloit; two brothers, Boyd Helgerson of Prairie du Chien and Jack (Linda) Helgerson of LaCrosse; 17 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother Jerry Helgerson. A Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, Sept. 27, at 10:00 AM at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Rev. John Wambach S.J. officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. The Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, assisted the family.

MAECILE SUTTON
Maecile R. Sutton, 77, Prairie du Chien, went to Heaven where there's no pain or sickness on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien. Maecile fought congestive heart failure, kidney failure, diabetes and other ailments for numerous years. Maecile was born March 3, 1926 to Herman and Etta (More) Wilmore in Concordia, Kansas. She attended school in Abilene, Kansas. She married Ernest E. Sutton, whom she met at the bus depot where she worked while he was stationed in the Army at Fort Riley in Junction City, Kansas on Dec. 27, 1945. From 1960 to 1973 they lived in Lynxville and then moved to Florida for the next 15 years, due to Ernest's health. In October of 1988 they moved to Prairie du Chien when her health failed, to be near her daughter. She lived at Prairie Health Care Center for the past three years. She enjoyed crocheting, doing plastic canvas work, playing board and card games. Her family and friends enjoyed getting frogs for her to add to her extensive collection. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia (Michael J.) Reed of Prairie du Chien; three grandchildren, Benjamin (Dana) Reed, Heather Reed and Adam Reed all of Prairie du Chien; a great-grandson Cort Jacob Reed; a very devoted and loving friend, Betty Reed of Lynxville; two sisters-in-law, Bernetta (Eugene) Press of Tyler, Texas and Margaret (Clifford) Sutton of Starke, Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest on June 12, 1996, an infant son Richard Lee, brother Robert Wilmore and two sisters, Beulah Miller and Maxine Kallos. Services were Saturday at Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien with burial in Dickson Ridge Cemetery, Lynxville. The Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home assisted the family.

LESLIE POOTS
Leslie R. Poots, 69, Prairie du Chien, and formerly of Chicago, expired peacefully at home on Sat., Sept. 20, 2003. He was born Dec. 11, 1933 in Chicago, son of Leslie T. and Estelle (O'Korn) Poots. He attended Morton High School in Berwyn, IL, the College of DuPage, IL, and later graduated from Morton College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Joan McGuire on June 22, 1957 at St. Regis Church in Chicago, IL. He was a food broker in the Chicagoland area for 30 years. They retired to Prairie du Chien and built a log home. Les worked for Wyalusing Academy as a unit Manager for several years. His favorite animals were dogs, especially Taffy their yellow lab. He liked gardening and spending time on the farm. He also enjoyed grocery shopping and coupon clipping. He was in close contact with his family and liked to attend the grandchildren's sports activities. They were his pride and joy! He leaves us with many fond memories and will always be with us. He is survived by his wife Joan of Prairie du Chien, a daughter Patty (Leo) Flanders, two sons; Robert (Lori Ann) and John (Jolene) all of Prairie du Chien, along with eight grandchildren; Jennifer Poots, Brandon Flanders, Robert Poots Jr., Shalli Poots, Nicholas Poots, Juliane Poots, John Poots Jr. and Joe Poots. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Rev. James Warosh S.J. officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Military Rites will be accorded graveside by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. Friends may call on Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, where there will be a wake scripture at 7 p.m.

INEZ ROACH
Inez Marie Roach,95, of Appleton, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, at Peabody Manor, Appleton. Inez was born on May 26, 1908, in Soldier's Grove, to that late Ross and Mary Ella (Warren) Smith. She graduated from Soldier's Grove High School and Stevens Point Teachers College. Inez married Clinton E. Roach of Eastman, on November 27th, 1930, at the home of her parents. Inez's brother-in-law, Rev. C. Kegley officiated. Mr. Roach taught grade school in the Appleton School System for 25 years; he passed away in 1969. Inez was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Appleton and the Appleton Monday Club. Survivors include her nephew, Allan (Aileen) Kegley, Janesville; her godchild, Marsha (Ethan) Jones, Janesville; her grand niece, Linda Howell, Readstown; and many other loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Helen Kegley and Lucrecia Buroker; two half-sisters, Jen Young and Bertha Ruppel; and her half-brother, Lorayne Smith. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2003, at First United Methodist Church, 325 East Franklin Street, Appleton. The Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton assisted the family.

COLETTE HOCHHAUSEN Colette R. Hochhausen, 89, of Cassville died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born January 8, 1914 in Ipswich, South Dakota, the daughter of Bernard and Anna (May) Schneider. On April 25, 1933, she married Ralph Hochhausen at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glen Haven. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1967. Colette loved doing crossword puzzles, and enjoyed feeding and watching birds. She was a wonderful cook, and she dearly loved her family. Surviving are five children, Gary (Beverly) Hochhausen, Sutherlin, Ore.; Susan (Rod) Williams, Cassville; Robert (Deb) Hochhausen, Cassville; Kathy Turner, Potosi; and Annette Hochhausen, Cassville; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard Schneider, Arvada, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son Leon Hochhausen, a grandson, Douglas Hochhausen; her parents; five sisters, Catherine Ehlen, Genevieve Esser, Dorothy Hochhausen, Agatha Perrin and Agnes Bausch; and a brother, Walter Schneider. Services were Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Glen Haven with Father John Norder officiating and burial in the Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven township. The Martin Page Funeral Home in Cassville assisted the family.

 HELEN KLEMA
Helen M. Klema 93 of Prairie du Chien, and formerly of Eastman, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at the Prairie Health Care Center. She was born March 2, 1910, in Eastman, daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Bay) Gillitzer. She married Archie Klema on Nov. 21, 1928, at St. Gabriel's church in Prairie du Chien. He preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1994. She worked at Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie du Chien for years and was an active member of St. Wenceslaus Parish in Eastman. She enjoyed her membership in the Eastman Homemakers. She is survived by a son John (Virginia) Klema of Wauzeka, 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Ronald Klema and five brothers; Leonard, Lawrence, Arnold, Robert and Elmer Gillitzer. A Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, Msgr. John McCarthy officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien assisted the family.

DWIGHT COBURN
Dwight D. Coburn age 71 of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at the Prairie Health Care Center. He was born Feb. 21, 1932, in Dana, Iowa , son of Claude and Alma (Batcheller) Coburn. He married Mary Jayne Navarra in 1950 in Norfolk, Virginia.. She preceded him in death in 1970. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked at the John Deere Company in Waterloo for 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Eagles Club. He is survived by two sons; Dwight (Paula) Coburn Jr. of Evansdale, Iowa and Keith (Sharon) Coburn of Prairie du Chien, a daughter Lisa (Stuart) Hansen of Red Wing, Minn., eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Dayle and a sister Vava Jean Coburn. A Memorial Service was Wednesday. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien.. Interment will be on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 11:00 AM at the Catholic Cemetery, Mt. Olivet in Waterloo, Iowa, with military rites.

MARVIN BEAN
Marvin Bean, 78, Prairie du Chien, died Sunday, August 31, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien. Marvin was born in Bagley on August 7, 1925 to Arno and Clara (Pilkington) Bean. He was a trucker for Adams Trucking in Dubuque for many years, retiring in 1990. Weekends were spent with his hobby of sawing logs and making furniture. He dearly loved antique tractors and steam engines. During retirement he enjoyed Bingo, being in the church choir and playing cards. Surviving are one sister, Dorothy (William) Campbell of Prairie du Chien and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Arden in 2002. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien, Pastor Stuart Allen officiating with burial in the Brodtville Cemetery in Wyalusing Township. Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien as well as after 12 noon Friday at the church.

CATHERINE MYERS
Catherine M. Myers, 96, Bloomington, died Saturday, August 30, 2003, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born Dec. 18, 1906, in Glen Haven Township, daughter of George and Ellie (Ahasay) Neis. On August 10, 1929, she married Russell W. Myers. He preceded her in death in 1996. They farmed in Beetown Township all of their lives. She was a member of the Bloomington United Methodist Church and its Ruth Circle. She enjoyed her home and loved her family and many friends. Surviving are two sons, Glen (Margaret) Myers, Bagley; and Gene (Darlene) Myers, Lancaster; eight grandchildren, Dan (Chris) Myers, Reno, Nev.; Karen Myers, California; Mary (Paul) Wiley, Chippewa Falls; Kenneth (Margaret) Myers, Ferryville; Carl (Melanie) Myers, Virginia; Allen (Bonnie) Myers, Winneconne; Conrad (Wendy) Myers, Bagley; and Jolene (Jack) Kilcoyne, Dubuque, Iowa; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her parents; a son, Paul; a grandson, Russell Myers; a great-grandson, Ryan Myers; her brothers, Raymond and Earl Neis; and a sister Lena Kirschbaum. Services were Tuesday, at the Martin Page Funeral Home in Bloomington, Rev. David Leistra officiating with burial in the Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township.

EUGENE SCHMELZER
Eugene Otto Schmelzer, 76, of rural Garnavillo, Iowa, died Sunday, August 31, 2003, of a sudden illness at his home. He was the son of the late Edward Schmelzer and the late Ruth (Demo) Schmelzer. He is also survived by his wife Myrna Schmelzer; one daughter, Carol Schmelzer of Palatine, Ill.; one Son, Kim Schmelzer of Dubuque, Iowa; one brother, Gerald (Barb) Schmelzer of San Diego, Calif.; two grandchildren, three step daughters, Denise (Jerry) Wilke of Elkader, Brenda (Mike) Oehlerich of North English and Monica (Kevin) Olmstend of Prairie du Chien, Wis; one Stepson, Gregory (Kathy) Tangeman of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; eight step grandchildren and one great step granddaughter. Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Garnavillo, Iowa, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 3. Funeral service will be at the Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, and Rev. Marvin Bries will officiate. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Garnavillo, Iowa.

KATHLEEN HARWOOD
Kathleen 'Kate' Mary Harwood of Mequon died Monday, September 1, 2003 in Milwaukee. She was born October 27, 1946 in Milwaukee and graduated from Bay View High School and then from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She worked at the First Wisconsin National Bank until her retirement. Kate was a classy lady who enjoyed all of her ballroom dancing friends, hiking through parks around the county and traveling to different countries. She was an active member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and a volunteer for Horizon Hospice. Kate was fastidious and thorough in everything she did, was a wonderful daughter, mother and sister and was a joy to know. Surviving are two daughters, Carrie, Milwaukee and Anna, Chicago; her parents, Jasper and Lois Harwood, Prairie du Chien; one sister, Dawn (James B.) Wood of Madison; two brothers, Daniel (Sara) Harwood of Milwaukee and Steven (Nancy) Harwood of Wauwatosa; nieces, nephews , other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by ex-husband Eugene Wipplinger and his parents, Otto and Mary Wipplinger of Milwaukee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at St. Cecilias Catholic Church 116 N. Orchard Street, Thiensville at 11 a.m. Please meet at the church. Entombment to follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield. Visitation was Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Breast Cancer Foundation or Vitas Health Care, 2675 N. Mayfair Road, Suite 480, Wauwatosa, Wis. SYLVIA CHRISTENSEN
Sylvia E. Christensen, 86, of Bolingbrook, Ill., and formerly of Prairie du Chien died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Bolingbrook, Ill. Services will be held graveside Monday at 11 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien.

KATHLEEN BRIGHT
Kathleen A. Bright, 81, most recently of St. Augustine, Fla. died Monday, June 30, 2003 at Ponce de Leon Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was born Nov. 23, 1921 in Blue Creek, Utah, adopted daughter of Jay and Violet Schmidt. She married Dale O. Bright on July 2, 1944. She resided the majority of her life in the communities of Genoa and DeSoto. Surviving are her son, Michael of Jacksonville, Fla., her daughter Pamela (Mann) of Yakima, Wash.; three grandchildren, Timothy, Kelly and Sarah and three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Lauren and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Graveside services of her cremains will be Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Dickson Cemetery in Lynxville. The Garrity Funeral Home assisted the family.

MARIE HEFFNER
Marie D. Heffner, 76, Bloomington, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born April 23, 1927, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Hannah Moshier. On Feb. 20, 1946, she married Herbert Heffner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel. Marie dearly loved her family and her pets. She enjoyed listening to music and was a loyal fan of Country Jamboree in Prairie du Chien. She was also a longtime volunteer at St. Mary's School in Bloomington. Surviving are her husband, Herbert Heffner, Bloomington; four children, Carolyn (Bernard) Struntz, Copperas Cove, Texas; Roger (Diane) Heffner, Lancaster; Robert (Patricia) Heffner, Lino Lakes, Minn.; and Helen (Ernest) Struntz, Bloomington; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington, Father Eric Nielsen officiating with burial in the Blakes Prairie Cemetery, Bloomington township. The Martin Page Funeral Home in Bloomington assisted the family.

DONALD HERTRAMPF
Donald E. Hertrampf, 72, died Saturday, September 6, 2003, at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster. He was born October 26, 1930 in Monona, Iowa son of Antone and Ruby (Mount) Hertrampf. He farmed in Monona, Iowa and rural Fennimore. They also operated a cafe in Mt. Hope for three years before moving to Prairie du Chien in January of 1981 and then back to Fennimore in 2002. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, Country music and spending time with his grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from August 8, 1951 until May 8, 1953. Surviving are two sons, Donnie (Cindy) Hertrampf, Prairie du Chien and Kevin (Jackie) Hertrampf, Fennimore; one daughter, Donita Ready, Louisberg, N. C.; seven grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Brandon, Benjamin and Brock Hertrampf and Wade and Zeb Ready; one brother, Lee (Cindy) Hertrampf, Waukon, Iowa; three sisters, Patricia (Ronald) Hill, Chatfield, Minn., Marcella Ewing, Corvallis, Oregon, Darlene (Palmer) Halverson, Monona, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janet on March 18, 1981, two brothers, Raymond and Lester and sister Gertie. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore, Pastor Charles Miller of the St. Peter Lutheran Church officiating with burial in Prairie Cemetery, Fennimore with Military Honors. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Larson Family Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.

DELORES MUMM
Delores S. Mumm, 73, Bloomington, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born April 3, 1930 in Cassville, daughter of Leo and Anna (Dresen) Adrian. On June 22, 1948, she married Carl M. Mumm at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. She loved farming with her husband for many years. She enjoyed taking care of her garden and flowers, and especially loved taking care of all her grandchildren. Delores was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its CCW in Bloomington. Surviving are her husband, Carl M. Mumm, Bloomington; two sons, Tom (Carol) Mumm, Bloomington and Harry (Sandy) Mumm, Dodgeville; two daughters, Janice (David) Anderson, Edgerton; and Cindy (Phil) Nies, Patch Grove; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Arlene (Embert) Wackershauser, Glen Haven, Geri (Joe) Schaal, Cassville; and Rosalyn (Tom) Connolly, Dubuque, Iowa; a brother, Leo Adrian, Jr. Lancaster; a sister-in-law, Darlene Adrian, Glen Haven; and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Tim) Spaeth, Bloomington. She was preceded in death by a son, Dick Mumm; a granddaughter, Kari Mumm; her parents; three brothers, Lyle, Duane and Pat Adrian; and a sister, Salli Wood. Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomington with Father Eric Nielsen officiating and burial will be in St. Mary's Settlement Cemetery, Cassville Township. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Martin Page Funeral Home in Bloomington where a 4:15 p.m. parish scripture service will be held and one hour prior to the service Friday morning.

 JAMES GLYNN
James P. Glynn, 71 of Peoria and formerly of Prairie du Chien died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003 at the Sun Health Hospice Center in Peoria following a brief illness. He was born Sept. 16, 1931 in Prairie du Chien, son of Paul and Marcella (Claffey) Glynn. He attended St. Gabriel's and St. John's Grade Schools and later graduated from Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie du Chien, where he was a 100 yard dash champ, pole vaulter and a golden gloves boxer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Jim attended Marquette University in Milwaukee and later graduated from the UW-Madison. He worked as a food technologist for Jewel Foods in Chicago, IL before moving to Peoria, AZ where he owned and operated a pest control business for the past 20 years. He is survived by three brothers; Tim (Betty) Glynn of Glendale, AZ, Tom (Betty) Glynn of Greenfield, and Terry Glynn of Peoria, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard and a sister Mary Bortoluzvi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, where there will be a wake scripture at 7:30 p.m.

Rosemary Elskamp
Rosemary Elskamp, 78, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at the Boscobel Area Health Care Center after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. She was born on Jan. 1, 1925, in Glen Haven, the daughter of Mike and Lena (Moris) Mergen. She attended St. Mary's grade school and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1941. She then attended Bayless business school in Dubuque. She was united in marriage to Bernard F. "Bud" Elskamp on June 5, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomington. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1997. Rosemary was a member of St. Mary's Parish and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court of St. Theresa #1006. She was also a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society, and the Bagley American Legion Auxiliary. She worked for the former Bloomington School District for 36 years as a bookkeeper. She retired in 1995 and enjoyed trips to Europe and Alaska with a special friend, Jesse Tornowski
